The Trial At Large Of Arthur O'connor, Esq., John Binns, John Allen, Jeremiah Leary, And James Coigley, For High Treason, Before Judge Buller, &C., Under A Special Commission At Maidstone, In The County Of Kent [United Irishmen Trial]; Irish Rebellion

London: James Rigway, 1798. 8vo, 133 p., disbound. Contemporaneous account of the trial of Arthur O'Connor and his co-conspirators. The men were arrested in Margate after Binns' failed attempt to secure passage to France for O'Connor and Coigley. They were charged with high treason and imprisoned in the Tower of London, though only Coigley, who had been arrested with incriminating correspondence in his pocket, would be executed. O'Connor was released in 1802 on the condition of his 'banishment'. He traveled to Paris, where he served under Napoleon as the official representative of the United Irishmen. Disbound, with wear and discoloration along spine joints; library stamp to upper title page; p 63/4 mended with tape, but a sound, complete copy. OCLC locates six copies of this edition.
