Stefan Banach (1892-1945) was a Polish mathematician widely regarded as one of the most significant and influential figures in 20th-century mathematics. The second volume of Banach's collected works encompasses all his publications related to functional analysis, including his seminal monograph "Théorie des opérations linéaires" (Theory of Linear Operations), which stands as the inaugural monograph on the general theory of functional analysis. Originally published in Polish in 1931 under the title "Teorja Operacyj" and subsequently in French in 1932, this volume compiles Banach's foundational contributions to the field.
