PERRIS MONTECARLO Vetiver Java EDP 100 ml «I have smelled different qualities of vetiver – Haiti, Bourbon – with intense, decisive scents, but too clean, transparent, linear. Until I stopped to consider the Vetiver from the island of Java, the least used, which I found intriguing, more pungent, sharp, smoky, almost burnt, and with surprising floral, green and spicy nuances. It wasn't love at first sight, but in the end the force of its intensity won me over.» Gian Luca Perris Vetiver is a spontaneous tropical plant, native to India and Indonesia. The name vetiver derives from the Tamil term “vettiveru”. The peculiarity of this species is its root system, made up of a large mass of fibrous and resistant roots that grow vertically at depths of up to 5 meters. For this typical configuration, in addition to perfumery, it was also used in naturalistic engineering and planted on the edges of roads to avoid soil erosion. There are different qualities of vetiver, the most renowned are Haitian vetiver, Bourbon vetiver from Ile de la Réunion and Javanese vetiver. Depending on the type of territory in which it grows and its exposure to the sun, each species has different olfactory nuances. Due to its richness of facets and the complexity of the odors it can evoke, vetiver has always fascinated maîtres parfumeurs. Vetiver essential oil has a viscous appearance and an amber color. It is extracted by steam distillation of the roots which are washed, cut and left to dry in the sun. Harvesting is done manually between December and September. The plants, deprived of their roots, are then planted back into the ground to be recultivated. The distillation process takes more than 24 hours and an average of 150 kilos of dried roots are needed to obtain 1 kilo of essential oil. The smell of Java vetiver can be described as a woody, dry, earthy, smoky, almost burnt note, with floral, green, spicy nuances. VETIVER JAVA is an elegant and magnetic perfume, a unique interpretation of the vetiver note. A fresh start of Calabrian Bergamot, Grapefruit and Timur Pepper, which immediately lets the woody, intense heart of Java Vetiver advance, unusually accompanied by the floral accents of Geranium Absolute. Amber and musk notes give a warm and intense finish. A decisive and charismatic perfume.
