Historische Künstlergrafik. Punktiermanier, 1794. 43,7 x 59 cm (Darstellung ) / 49,9 x 63,2 cm (Blatt). - Mittig unterhalb der Darstellung mit "Shakespeare. Taming of the Shrew. Introduction. Scene II" betitelt und um "A room in the Lord's house. Sly with Lord's attendants. Published June 4. 1794, by John & Josiab Boydell, at the Shakespeare Gallery, Pall Mall, & N. 90, Cheapside" ergänzt. Ferner unten links mit "Painted by R. Smirke, R. A." und rechts "Engraved by R. Thew, Engraver to his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales" versehen. Außerdem um einige Verse des Shakespeare-Textes ergänzt. - Die Szene zeigt den Kesselflicker Sly, der im Bett des Lords erwacht und von dessen Diener umringt ist. Ihm wird suggeriert, er sei ein Lord, der 15 Jahre unter Amnesie gelitten habe und nun nach Hause zurückgekehrt sei. - Blatt leicht gebräunt und etwas fleckig. An den Ecken etwas berieben. Ingesamt guter Erhaltungszustand. -
