Two volume set published in 1747, translated by William Melmouth. Bound in full period calf. Spines with raised bands and gilt titles. Title pages printed in red and black, with engraved vignettes of coins Very good condition. Some wear to the boards and heavier wear to the spines (see photo). Internally the end papers and title pages have brown staining but otherwise the pages are in remarkably good condition. Bookplate of H.L.Hobart. Henry Lewis Hobart (1774 – 1846) was an English Anglican priest who became Dean of Windsor and thus Dean of Wolverhampton. Also, formerly from the library of Jacobi Comber whose name is beautifully written to the front fly leaves.
