[vi], xvii-xxxvi, 149, [1], [2] blank; 99; Second continental edition: this is a reprint by Thomas Johnson of his edition of the previous year, which reprinted Pope's folio Works (1717), with the addition, at the end, of 'Verses occasioned by Mr. Addison's Treatise of Medals'. These two leaves may well have been added at the last moment, as they have a separate signature (G1-2), and follow 'Finis' at the foot of p. 95 (F8r); they are missing in the copies at Harvard and Texas, and probably others as well. Thomas Johnson had been reprinting English works mainly plays and poetry at the Hague since about 1710, catering to expatriate English readers (and travellers), as well as a slowly-growing continental anglophone market. The imprint here retains Johnson's usual fiction of a London printing, although his activities were neither illegal nor even particularly surreptitious: advertisements in other works issued by him are clear about his location.
