Octavo. [2], vi, [1], 17-144 pages, [2]. Illustrated. Restored. Text block recased in green cloth covered boards with black leather spine. Leather title label on the spine. New front and rear end sheets. Scattered foxing and toning to the title page. Inscription on right blank front flyleaf from the publisher - "Wm. Bogart from the Publisher J Munsell Feb 1866." Below the Publisher's inscription is an ink inscription traced over a pencil inscription - "Mr. Munsell's notes form a valuable part of this volume." At the bottom of the "Note to Second Edition" page is the written ink name of G A Worth traced over a pencil name. 8 pages of illustrations and text have pen and pencil marginalia regarding observations presumably made by the publisher or Mr. Bogart. William Henry Bogart was the author of the book "Who Goes There? The first edition of this book was published in 1849 followed by the second edition in 1850. There were 50 large paper copies and 400 regular size copies of the 1866 third edition printed. Howes W 682; Sabin 105498.
