[Original Etching]. Richard Samuel Chattock (English 1825 - 1906). "Oaks of sherwood Forest" is an original 19th century hand-pulled copper plate etching on laid paper of magestic oak trees. Signed and dated in the plate lower left, "R.S.C. 1881." Sheet size: 9.5 x 13.5 inches; plate size: 7.75 x 11.25 inches. Chattock was an accomplished 19th century landscape etcher and painter, he exhibited at the Royal Academy, London, from 1869 to 1891 and was a full member of the Royal Engravers . Excellent condition with crisp strike and sharp lines. Unframed, loose and unmounted
