Maiden Voyage Welch, Denton Autobiography And Memoirs

First edition. 303 pages. Inscribed by Welch to the reverse of the frontispiece: "This copy is Rosemary's – she actually bought it! That's why I like writing in it so much. Love Denton.". The recipient was Rosemary Mundy Castle, the daughter of patron Peggy Mundy Castle, a close friend of Welch's, and also briefly a love rival when she came between him and Eric Oliver one Christmas. The book is reasonably firmly bound in slightly marked and bumped light yellow cloth, lettered and decorated in red to the spine, the spine is cocked. The text block is age toned, slightly foxed, marked and dusty. The dust jacket is the original and not price clipped, it is quite toned, marked and rubbed, with small chips and short closed tears to the edges, some repaired to the reverse with small pieces of thin paper archival tape. An excellent association copy of Welch's first published work.
