First edition. xiv, 317 pp. Black cloth with gold lettering to spine, in paper dust jacket (not price clipped). Clean boards. The binding is very slightly slanted with light bumping to spine ends. Laid paper with deckle edges; internally fresh and clean. Light shelf wear to extremities of jacket, some discolouration to spine and to top edge of panels, a few marks to back board. 'Undertones of War' is a memoir of WWI, and the first prose publication of English poet, Edmund Blunden. Despite its prose format, it was described as 'the best war poem' by G. S. Fraser, and subsequently printed as poetry in the 'London Magazine'. 8vo.
