Collated and complete copy of the first variant of this atlas. Having viewed well over 50 examples of this atlas (likely closer to 100), I have found only two variants. In what seems to be the first variant, there are 24 folding maps. The last paginated map leaf is 340 and is the map of Clay Center. In the other variant, which I believe to be the second, Clay Center is a larger folding map nearer the center of the atlas. In this second variant, the map of Clay Center is the 25th folding map, and the pagination ends on 339. All of the text and lithographic illustrations are the same across both variants. //// This copy has been rebound, retaining the original top and bottom boards. Spine and corners are now covered with brown leather, with gilt stamped lettering on the spine. New end leaves and fly leaves. Title page and all prelims including indexes, etc. are present, though mostly detached and heavily chipped on edges. Some of these edges have been stabilized with taped edges. The folding map of Kansas is pretty good, though shows misfolds and creases. The folding map of Lawrence shows some tears in the folds, as does Winfield and Topeka. Page 31/32 with Linn Co, etc. and the previous lithograph of Atchison homes is significantly torn near center of leaves. The folding map of El Dorado is torn in two, with both parts being present. The folding map of Emporia shows fairly large tears. The folding map of Hutchinson shows wear along outside edge, though not affecting map image. The remaining folding maps are all in good condition. The last two leaves of numbered maps show soiling and stains along edges, though the map images remain good. Remaining leaves are bright and clean. Due to weight, additional charges will apply for Priority and/or International shipping.
