The author, C. H. Kelly, went there with a goal of setting up a mission. The narrative is fascinating -- and the illustrations (both photographic and sketches) are also fascinating. Twenty-nine images including a frontispiece showing Buddhist shrines, plus a very nice foldout color map. Hardcover, with gilt illustration of a pagoda on the front, 266 pages. Firmly bound, no writing inside, but the inside front and back covers are marred where there used to be cellophane tape. A bit of wear top and bottom of spine and corners. A very compelling account.
