Bound in black card covers, with a clean outer cream/grey dust jacket with flaps bound to the spine. Tucked in is a presentation letter from Sparrow starting 'Dear Percival'; however, the book referred to in the letter is not this one, as the letter is dated 20.xii.53. A faint pencil annotation at the foot of the half-title says 'Arthur Percival Faversham', suggesting that the addressee of the letter was the Percival who founded the Faversham Society. Also tucked in are copies of obituaries of Sparrow from The Independent, by Nicolas Barker, A.L. Rowse, Giles Mandelbrote and Susanna Johnston
