This odd pair of hand-drawn sheets appears to have been designed for use in an English-language publication about the territorial history of Germany. One page, dedicated to colonialism, presents a grim Nazi eagle surrounded by empty boxes - presumably where portraits of those named individuals were to be affixed. Dr. Carl Peters, Franz Luderitz, Hermann von Wissmann, and Gustav Nachtigal all played critical roles in the development of Germany's African possessions. A space at the top is reserved for Frederick the Great and the 1933 Celebration of Potsdamday, the re-opening of the Reichstag that helped solidify Hitler's power in Germany. The second page includes the dates 1934 and 1935, the latter of which saw the reincorporation of the Saarland into German territory. Tables written in pencil on the verso of both sheets show pricing information related to 1948 - indicating a probable postwar effort. Sheet Width (in) 8.5 Sheet Height (in) 10.9 Condition Description Pair of hand-drawn (pencil and ink) and colored pages on grid paper. Moderately toned, consistent with age, and some toning in the boxes - probably where dabs of adhesive were previously applied. Handwriting in pencil on the otherwise blank versos. Very good condition overall.
