Full grained black leather with blind embossed padded sides and spring loaded steel catch and stud. 300 x 230 mm approx. all edges gilt, ornate black and gilt end papers,16 leaves hinged on cloth ie 32 pages for mounting photos with alternate leaves having decorative floral or scenic images, all have gilt frames surrounding inserts for the display of photographs. Circa 1860- 1890.Contains 48 professionally taken family photographs from studios in London and the south of England mounted on heavy card. A clue to the family is a photograph of a Church graveyard memorial which appears to read Sacred to the memory of Martina Mapion wife of John Webb - London died Dec. 1874 aged 23.
