The works of Cowper 1731-1800 noted poet credited with moving English poetry from nature to day-to-day life in the countryside. I-Private Correspondence, II, III, IV & V-His Life and Letters, VI, VII & VIII-Poems. 2887pp. All volumes bound in stamped decorated brown cloth boards with black title plate to spine containing gilt lettering. All volumes have turned corners. and light soiling.All volumes have the private bookplate of C Louis Buxton to fixed end papers. General foxing to pages. Front free end paper has been removed from each volume. I-Slight loss to cloth at head of spine, nicks to foot of spine and 3cm surface split to lower spine joint cloth. Early pages heavily foxed and hinges tender. II-Small nicks and cuts to head and foot of spine. III-Minor loss to head of spine. IV-Nicks to head and foot of spine. Splitting to hinge between front fixed and free end papers. V-Nicks to cloth at head and foot of spine. Hinge between fixed and free end paper a little tender. VI-Nick to cloth at head of spine. VII-Two small nicks to cloth at head of spine. Split starting between fixed and free end papers. VIII-1cm split to head of lower joint. Split between fixed and free end papers leaving hinges visible from removal and upper board with a little freedom.
