12mo, pp 367, [1], bound in contemporary calf, neatly rebacked with raised bands and red label, spine lightly faded, a fine copy, FIRST EDITION, with the Latin and D'Olivet's French translation printed on [previous] versos, the English translation of Alexander Wishart on facing rectos. a neat and charming school text book of the period, intended to instruct the young scholar in three language translation, divided into subkect matter e.g. conscience, passons, wisdom etc. A neat piece of Newbery production which he reprinted the following year without the French and Latin. The endpapers of this copy have been replaced by the binder but the original owner's name - Sir Charles Grave Hudson bt. - is laid in. He was brother in law of George Keate, friend of Voltaire and lived at Wanlip Hall.
