Bound in red buckram with very light shelf wear on the covers. A page appears to have been torn out near the beginning of the book. The page facing the full title page has small torn area on the fore-edges. Small tear on the fore-edge on page xivii in the Catalogue of soils collected in 1837. There is light foxing/tanning throughout the book and the text and illustrations are generally clear and unmarked. The binding is tight. the seal of the Association is impressed in blind on several pages. Illustrated with scenes and charts in black and white. 205 pages plus an extensive appendix. The author was the first geologist of the states of Maine, New Hampshire and Rhode Island and a controversial inventor. Please see all images.
