Clipped signature of the author attached at title-page: "Harlan Hubbard / Milton, KY 40045," clipped from an envelope the author sent to us. The Kentucky author, painter, and naturalist's journals for the years 1929 - 1944, before the shantyboat journey, or settlement at Payne Hollow. From our personal collection. We corresponded with the author in the 1980's from our bookstore in Louisville, KY. We were also fortunate to visit Payne Hollow on the banks of the Ohio River, where Hubbard was always a gracious host, and needless to say a very interesting man, and also met with him during his infrequent visits to Louisville.
