Hello, Sucker - "So He Went To War. And Behold His Reward." World Peaceways

This depressing image presents a deliberately evocative message, implying that disabled veterans of the First World War were 'suckers' for their participation in the conflict. Accompanying text at the bottom of the sheet admits the cruelty, but goes on to detail how blind patriotism and war profiteering turned everyone into suckers, and explains how there runs a risk of it happening again. The ad was part of a larger anti-war campaign promoted by Fortune and American Magazine on behalf of World Peaceways in New York. Published in 1937. Sheet Width (in) 11.25 Sheet Height (in) 14 Condition Description Lightly worn and ragged edges along the left and right sides. Very good overall.
