Translated by William Butcher, author of 'Jules Verne: The Definitive Biography' (2006), 'Verne, Journey to the Centre of The Self' (1990) as well as having translated other works by the author. This version is based upon the Oxford University Press trnalsation by utcher (1998) which returned to the original serial publication, the earliest book forms and the manuscripts in order to corrent many of the poor quality, often heavily abridged, translations of the past. In this version he returned to the initial sources in order to correct many of the previous poor quality or abridged translations that have appeared over the years. Contains full page illustrations by Canadian American book illustrator and comic artist Jillian Tamaki throughout, and an introduction by British author Margaret Drabble. Bound in illustrated cloth with illustrated endpapers, in a pale blue paper covered slipcase. 25 x 17 cm. Very good condition, the book shows almost no sign of previous use apart from the blind stamped initials of a former owner's on the half title page, and extremely light rubbing at the spine edges. Slipcase also very good condition, light nicks, mostly at the top as well as slight rubbing from the book on the inside but overall very tidy and presentable.
