The author, Dr. Geoffrey Herklots, was a British botanist who taught in Hong Kong from 1928 until WWII; he wrote widely on the rich natural environment of the territory. The present monograph describes some of the more spectacular varieties likely to be encountered; Herklots also indicates where in the Territory one might sight examples.
