Hirsh Smolyar immediately after the war wrote, in fact, one of the first books about the Jewish resistance in the Minsk ghetto. Minsk Ghetto (July 20, 1941 - October 21, 1943) - a Jewish ghetto, a place of forced resettlement of the Jews of Minsk in the process of persecution and extermination of Jews during the occupation of the territory of Belarus by Nazi Germany during the Second World War. The ghetto was one of the largest in Europe, and in the occupied territory of the USSR it ranked second in terms of the number of prisoners after Lvov.
