The Alcoholic Foundation Bulletin #7 from August 3rd, 1949. This is a historic piece of AA History that details some of the transition of the Alcoholics Anonymous service structure to what we see today. This letter also announces the retirement of Bobbie Burger. This letter was sent out to all of the AA groups to announce the changes to come. A portion of the letter reads: ?CONFIDENTIAL TO MEMBERS OF AA AND NOT FOR PUBLICATION For a considerable length of time, Bill has expressed a desire to withdraw from active participation in General Headquarters affairs. He has felt it imperative that he concentrate on additional writings, which he deems of great importance to AA as a whole. Up until now, it has been impossible for him to do so, as he found that of necessity two or three days a week in the office was not conducive to the concentration so necessary to writing. We are happy to be able to tell you that at long last Bill's wishes are about to be realized. The Trustees have appointed a General Service Committee consisting of representatives of The Alcoholic Foundation, Works Publishing, The AA Grapevine and General Service Headquarters, to act as an Advisory body to the headquarter's staff in connection with those problems of policy and administration requiring immediate concentration. It has been necessary to reorganize at the top level in the Headquarters Office in view of Bobbie's retirement because of a breakdown in her health. We feel, as all who have had contact with Bobbie must feel, that a tremendous debt of gratitude is due her for years of devoted service.? This letter is in very good condition. There is handwriting on the backside of the page.
