In fair condition, with reinforcing rudimentary and only partially successful. Rubbing and wear to boards. Chipping and loss to spines, including at head and heel. Some cracking and looseness to reinforced front hinges. Light markigns and marginalia, including bookplates at front of each volume. Text blocks remain bound well. A scarce 1st edition set of the work by James Fenimore Cooper (1789-1851). His first attempt at historical fiction, the novel was part of an attempted 13-part collection, but both Cooper and critics were generally unfavorable towards the book.
