Tall 4to. 10" x 7.5". 392pp. Beautiful First Edition of this record of the celebrations taking place in and around Boston for the 300th anniversary of the city. Produced by the "Committee of Compilation" at the direction of Mayor Curley who served as mayor on three separate occasions, 1914-17, 1922-25, and 1930-33. Beautifully bound by the Harcourt Bindery of Boston in contemporary blue morocco with 5 raised spine bands with titles stamped in gilt in two compartments and finial designs stamped in gilt in other compartments. Multi-layered gilt borders and decoration on both boards and title stamped in gilt on front. Multi-layered gilt turn-ins. bordering blue silk insets. Silk end-papers. All edges gilt. Illustrated throughout with photographs of the celebrations. A simply gorgeous production. Square, tight and clean throughout with no toning or foxing to interior pages. First and last blanks mildly toned as is the edges of the silk end-papers. Edges, hinges and tips rubbed. Some light scuffing to rear board. Binding and hinges solid. Very well-preserved. Inscribed and signed by Mayor on the first blank, "To my good friend Joseph Dickson. With best wishes of James M. Curley, Mayor of Boston".
