Yellow cloth. 12mo. Printed yellow dust jacket. Melville's last novel, The Confidence-Man, was first published in 1857. This Grove Press edition was the first time it appeared in print in over 90 years. It was the second publication of the Press and influenced many writers of the day including the Beats. A very good copy with some light soiling to the cloth. The endsheets have some foxing else the text is very good with some scattered light foxing and some creasing to the upper corners of the last few pages. The jacket is good with some soiling and edgewear. The spine is browned with some chipping at the top. The front flap has the stamped price of $1.25 at the top.
