Socorro Photographer: Joseph Edward Smith 1858-1936 Mckee, John Dewitt; Wilson, Spencer

Book is clean with a square, tight binding and bright, white pages. Book has minor wear on the edges that is difficult to see in the scans. This book is Volume VIII of the publications of the Socorro County Historical Society. Smith used a Rochester camera, which was introduced by the Rochester Camera Company in December, 1899, and produced in essentially the same form until 1903. The wet-plate camera shown above was probably the one he used most of the time. He is known to have had another, larger camera, the one which took the family photo, but it has since vanished. The other photos on this page are of his plate holders and a retouching desk, representative of the equipment in a photographer's studio of that period. The book you see in the images is the actual book we have for sale. Why pay more? When you buy this book from us, you are helping to support a small brick and mortar family owned store. We have been curating our collection for three generations and currently have over 250,000 volumes in stock. Please feel free to call for more stock.
