Bound in contemporary full marbled calf with richly gilt spine and ruling in gilt to boards. Lightwear to spines and edges. Fourth volume missing upper 2x7mm of top of spine. Name in contemporary hand to flyleaf in all volumes. Slightly darker liquid stain along edge of frontispiece leaf in second volume, not affecting illustration. Red inkstain to endpaper in third volume. Frontispiece leaf of third volume partly loosened and with a fold to corner. Endpapers to all volumes with light rubbing and creases. * Originally published as a series in the years 1731-45. The unfinished novel by Pierre de Marivaux was extended, but not quite finished by Madame Riccoboni. She wrote the 12th part, which is included in this edition.
