NOTE: Requires repair with ffep and frontis plate detached with tear to front pastedown along gutter and play to hinge (hinge-tape reinforcement to rear endpaper gutter with only mildplay); plate presumably following p.96detached, now laid-in. Not ex-lib. Presumed 1st edition with same 1898 date to copyright and title pages. Hardcover in gold cloth with green, red and black decorations. xxxiii + 345pp. + publisher's notices. Cloth darkened with loss to spine, colors still quite strong (see/request seller's scan); upper 1/4" of backstrip torn, partly missing. Binding overall strong and square; moderate uniform toning to clean pages.
