"Denmark was 'peacefully' invaded by German forces in April, 1940, with an official military occupation of the country beginning in August of 1943. As the Allies marched across France in 1944, defeat for the occupying forces seemed inevitable. This historic map of Southern Jutland was aimed at postwar political settlements, with the hopes of incorporating the long-contested region into Danish territory. Borders from 1864 and 1920 are noted, in addition to religious sites, castles, battlegrounds, and other locations of cultural and historic relevance. An inset shows the Danevirke, a network of fortifications near Schleswig. The map was drawn by Captain Hector Boeck in 1944 (under German occupation) and published in Copenhagen by the Schleswig League [Slesvig-Ligaen] (D.D.D.) in 1945. Source."
