From the preface: "The 'Green Parrot Cook Book' is a compilation of recipes collected during more than thirty years in the restaurant by Mrs. J.B. Dowd, who operated the Green Parrot Inn, Kansas City, from 1929 to 1955. Many of the recipes contained in this book were originated by Mrs. Dowd; some have been handed down in her own family from one generation to another; others were given to her by friends from far and near, who knew of her plan to assemble them some day into a cook book, and who wanted her to have their favorites to be included, if she so desired."
