Second UK hardback edition of this novel previously published in hard covers by Rupert Hart-Davis in 1954. Originally published in the US by Ballantine in 1953. There are a few small spots to the rear panel and a little discolouration in places around the edges but the boards are otherwise clean and unmarked. Browning to the page edges. Previous owner's name in pen at the top of the front free endpaper. The pages are browned around the edges but otherwise clean and unmarked. The jacket has browning to the spine which has the volume number 14 in pen and a little chipping at the top. The front panel has a small closed tear at the bottom with a tiny chip and another smaller closed tear near the bottom right corner. The rear panel has a small chip near the bottom left corner.
