1st Edition, hardcover in illustrated yellow paper-covered boards. Spine ends are lightly bumped but tips still fairly sharp, with a few minuscule specks of soil. Front board is 1/2 inch splayed. 32pp text is tight and illustrations are bright. A bit of over-glue on title page. No markings, or soil inside. Original dj with price present has some foxing on the yellow background, is moderately soiled, with minor color loss from creases. Drowsy Dormouse and Timmy the Fieldmouse are already known to their young friends as very unusual and go-ahead little animals, but in this new story they branch out in quite a new direction and become successful- if at times rather anxious- farmers. Little introduction to Drowsy is needed as the stories by Elf Lewis Clarke are frequently broadcast on the Children's Hour and are firm favorites with the young listeners.
