Material covered includes settlement and development, schools, library, churches, notable figures, agriculture and industry, politics and government, steamer transportation on the Willamette River, and more. Includes the Lot Whitcomb's plat map of 1865 and several historical photographs. Charles Oluf Olson's work was received as an unfinished manuscript prepared for the Federal Writers' Project of the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s, and is here presented with certain additions and corrections by members of the Milwaukie Historical Society and other Milwaukie citizens.
