A first Modern Library edition, published by Boni and Liveright. Dating Modern Library editions can be tricky since the early editions did not have detailed copyright information. This edition uses the earliest style of binding for Modern Library, Toledano stlye number 1, which was in use from 1917 to 1919. The front cover also has the earliest Modern Library logo, with the gothic type used for the BL lettering within a gold square field. 357 pages, 4-1/4" X 6-5/8". Green flexible leatherette cover. List of Modern Library titles opposite the title page includes 50 titles. Some edge wear to the cover, with some fraying at the head of the spine. Lower right corner is slightly bumped inward. Green marbled endpapers. Includes his most famous poem - 'The Hound of Heaven'. Dark blue topstain is somewhat faded, hs some bump marks and a slight stain mark near the spine, about 1 inch across. Bottom edge has a red pencil mark, about 1 inch long, as well as a small faded stain a the spine, about 1 inch across. Small faded stain mark on the bottom left corner of the text pages from 47 to 97, about 1/4 inch quarter circle mark - see photos. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Binding is intact and all text pages are tightly bound. not a library discard copy. Attached are some photos of the copy we have in our inventory.
