Covers slightly marked and rubbed, edges and corners worn, boards showing at tips, label slightly chipped, armorial bookplate on front pastedown, slight offsetting from first battle plan to final page of text, contents otherwise clean and bright, small closed tear to edge of folding map, neatly repaired with no loss, binding tight and firm. A very good clean copy. Sir Robert Thomas Wilson (1777 1849) was a British general and politician who served in Egypt, Prussia, and was attached to the Imperial Russian Army as British liaison officer. He sat as the Liberal MP for Southwark from 1818 to 1831. He served as the Lieutenant Governor of Ceylon and later as the Governor of Gibraltar from 1842 until his death in 1849.
