The resulting book became an important argument for American internationalism and cooperation in the emerging postwar world. The copyright page explicitly states "Third Printing, April, 1943" and contains the publisher's fascinating wartime notice, "About the Appearance of Books in Wartime," explaining changes in book production—including lighter-weight paper and reduced margins—made in response to War Production Board restrictions.
