A wonderful large scale black and white map of South Africa by Matthaus Merian but derived from Jan Jansson. The map shows a general view of South Africa with representation of mountains and animals. Different ships in the middle of the sea. Jan Jansson was part of an influential family of map publishers from the Netherland throughout the 17th century and beyond. They were based in Arnhem than in Amsterdam. They were printers, publishers and booksellers. Overall Condition: Excellent
