"Built in 1911, Denver's Daniels & Fisher Tower was the tallest building in America east of the Mississippi at the time of construction. It was modeled after the bell tower at St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, which had recently collapsed and was undergoing construction. In addition to a large department store, it housed a restaurant until its sale in 1958. This map/menu was published in 1950. One side offers a simple pictorial map of Denver and the surrounding area, with illustrated vignettes highlighting notable buildings, historic sites, and cultural venues. A menu on the recto offers a tantalizing selection of soups, sandwiches, salads, featured entrees, and desserts. Prices range from $.15 for a cup of chicken broth and rice to $1.35 for a pear stuff with cream cheese, pecans, shrimp salad, and chicken salad.
