'A Table of the Names of the Persecutors, Visibly Plagued by God' follows text and serves as an index. Terminal publisher ad listing other books published by William Miller, as well as others written by Samuel Clarke. A history of Christian martyrs from the time of the Old Testament up to the 1560s, listing such persecutors as Satan, Pharaoh, Nero, Constantine, 'Popish Inquisitors', Cardinal Woolsey, numerous kings and emperors, etc. Samuel Clarke was a clergyman and Puritan biographer, who in 1646 published a two-volume work entitled 'A Mirrour or Looking-glass both for Saints and Sinners, held forth in some thousands of examples'. Though this work and the one offered here are titled similarly, the earlier work was a more wide-ranging work discussing the nature of sin and offering Biblical references as remedial teachings. The current work focuses on the martyrdom of Christians at the hand of various figures throughout history, and the divine retribution they faced in return.
