First edition First printing The boards and spine are faded and rubbed in places. There is a heavy rub to the top of the front, spine hinge. The lettering and pictorial illustration is bright and bold. Probable new end papers and inside boards. The hinge has pulled on the colour frontis and title page, but thie bingding is otherwise tight. The colour frontis has some edge creases. There is foxing to the half title and title page with additional foxing to some margins throughout and some pages. The plate opposite page 174 has tears to the long edge.
