First Dutch Translation. First Printing 1960. Translated by Max Schuchart. The third translation of The Hobbit, following versions in Sweden (1947) and Germany (1957). This translation is based on the 7th printing of The Hobbit, published by Allen & Unwin in 1955. The book contains two maps by Tolkien, Thrors kaart (Thror's Map) on pp. [6-7] and Wilderland on pp. [8-9], with calligraphed names of places translated into Dutch. See Hammond, Section G, Page 391. A near-fine copy of this very delicate book with minor wear on the cover and spine edges. Small decorative sticker from the selling bookstore on the inside of the front cover, name and date on the half-title page. The binding is firm, with pages toned as usual. A well-preserved and highly collectible copy.
