Of 100 copies printed, this is copy number 40. Some mild to moderate soil to boards and spines, with some soiling, scuffing, and chipping to spine labels. Some mild bumping to spine ends. One larger bump to upper corner of front board of Volume IV, and mild bumps to corner of other volumes. Some minor starting to front hinge of Volume I. All 37 etchings present in both states with the exception of the frontispieces of Volumes II & III, which only have the 2 plates in black and not in sanguine. Some very light speckling to endpapers, which bear bookseller's labels from Librairie de Palais-Royal (Groves & Michaux). Interiors are clean and unmarked. Bindings all sound.
