1898 Adirondacks, Finger Lakes, New York Photo Album Photo Albums

14 15/16" x 12 1/4", 11 leaves/22 pages with 55 photos from the Adirondacks, Finger Lakes and New York State from 1898 and 1899. Green cloth cover, stamped with a golden flower design, is in excellent condition, with only some loosening of the cloth along the spine. Even the corners have seen only minor wear. All of the pages, however, are detached from the binding, have brittle edges and must be turned with care. Most of the photos are annotated, and in addition to a few remarkable family and individual portraits, we have the following scenes: -Cliffs at Lake George -Saw Mill and Opera House, Lake Placid -Upper Cascade Lake and Mirror Lake, Adirondack Mountains -Views of abolitionist John Brown's Farm and Gravesite (in North Elba, N.Y., but here listed as Newman) -a boat ride on the "Day Line" from Albany to New York -several interior views of a lovely home -Plattsburgh breakwater -Lake Champlain -Rogers Rock, Lake George -The "Vermont", a ship on Lake Champlain -The "Horicon", a ship on Lake George -Excelsior House (or Stevens House, demolished 1940s) atop Signal Hill, Lake Placid There are about 9 missing photos in the album, but what remains are beautiful photos upstate New York from the late 19th century.
