Cree Indian Prophecy Ecology Poster - John Running has been photographing on the Colorado Plateau since 1965, when he and his family moved to Flagstaff. The rocks, deserts, canyons, mountains, and rivers have served as backdrops for his shoots with models, Navajos, cowboys, and river runners. These same locales also serve independently as subjects throughout his career. - In these images, Running puts forth a multiplicity of stories about people living on and alongside the Colorado Plateau. - “You need to photograph the truth and try to present it honestly.” - John Running. - Model: Share Lopez - The earliest known home of the Navajos was in the area between the Jemez and Lukachukai mountains, in what today is Northwestern New Mexico, but subsequently the people expanded westward and northward into portions of present-day Arizona and Utah. - Plateau People and Places - The print came from a series of colour photographs that John Running took in 1989. - Prints were produced in greytone. - I will include a borrowed colour image so you can see the beautiful colours of the handmade garments worn for the shoot 45 years ago in 1989. - The image is of Share Lopez of the Navajo Tribe, shot in the Lukachukai mountains.
