A later edition, published in 1947, complete in the original dustwrapper. The title page is dated 1947 and marked as ninth impression. The true first edition was also published by William Blackwood in 1902. ***Very good in red cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine. The gilt is still nice and bright, having been protected by the dustwrapper. The boards are clean and unmarked. Head and tail of spine just slightly creased. Corners sharp. No bumps. Page block edges slightly browned and foxed, affecting the outer margins of a few pages, but not affecting the text. Internally also very good, with no inscriptions. Pages largely clean, with just some sporadic foxing, mainly to the first and last few pages. No creases or tears. Printed on thin post-war paper. Spine tight. ***In a very good plain printed dustwrapper, priced by the publisher at 6/- net on the spine. The dustwrapper is just slightly creased and rubbed at the edges, with just a sliver of loss at the head of the spine. There are some marks and a few foxing spots to the dustwrapper, but there is no fading. No chips or tears. No significant creasing, and the large inner flaps are uncreased. Dustwrapper bright and complete. ***375 pages. 190mm x 130mm. Contents: Youth: A Narrative; Heart of Darkness; The End of the Tether. ***A post-war edition - scarce to find in its original thin and fragile dustwrapper, especially in such complete collectable condition. Of interest to collectors of antiquarian Joseph Conrad titles. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.
