Navy blue cloth covered boards with Hoover's facsimile signature gilt-stamped on front board panels; gilt-stamped lettering and graphics on spines. All are internally clean, no marks or tears. Text blocks are sound. (1) 1874-1920 Years of Adventure. [xi], 496pp. Very good book in good dust jacket. First edition, first printing. Boards are lightly scuffed. Upper edge at head of board spine is crimped and with one tiny tear; tail of spine has horizontal crease across lowermost edge. Fore-edge tips are curled, lower back fore-edge tip has slight rub through. Board spine has small white stain and several small splash marks. External edges are age-toned, as are text margins. End-papers are sunned around edges; bookstore stamps on lower edges of front paste down and FFEP; FFEP also has previous owner's inscription. Dust jacket is sunned overall. Significant losses at: Upper edge of jacket spine and adjacent edge of back jacket panel, back and front corners at tail of spine, and along the back fore-edge folds, all with many adjacent rubs, creases and closed tears. All folds are creased and scuffed. Front fore-edge fold has four horizontal closed tears of approx. 1/2" each. Tail of spine has a 1 1/4" closed vertical tear adjacent to the loss on the front corner. Lower right front fore-edge corner has a 1" closed vertical tear along the fold, with an adjacent 1" horizontal closed tear, and a further 1/4" vertical tear. The back fore-edge fold is rubbed through in several places and has several losses along with numerous creases and chips. Upper edge of back panel has several diagonal creases, also with adjacent rubs and chips. All upper and lower edges are creased and chipped, fore-edge corners are rubbed. Inside front flap has a 2" by 1 1/4" price clip. (2) 1920-1933 The Cabinet & The Presidency. [xii] 405pp. Near fine book in very good plus dust jacket. First edition, second printing. A bit of age-toning to external text. Dust jacket is lightly sunned and soiled. Small scuffs on spine and folds. Small stain toward tail of jacket spine. Upper right corner of front panel has a 1/2" oval-shaped scuff. Price of $5.00 is intact on lower edge of front inside flap. Title page has a1 1/4" round stamp of "Herbert Hoover NHS, West Branch, IA, Jul 28 '97" but no indication that this is ex-lib. (3) 1929-1941 The Great Depression. [xv] 503pp. Very good book in good dust jacket. First edition, first printing. Board panels and spine are a bit sunned. Edges at head and tail of spine are less than crisp. External page edges are age-toned. Sunning around edges of front and back end-papers. Dust jacket spine is sunned. Jacket panels have shelf-wear soil and scuffs. Significant losses at upper left corner and lower right corner of back panel. Additional losses on corners at head of jacket spine and across width of edge at tail of spine, both with adjacent closed tears, chips and rubs. Upper left corner of front jacket panel has several open and closed tears adjacent to the loss on the front corner at head of spine. Fore-edge folds are sunned, creases and scuffed. Lower left corner on back jacket panel has a 1/2" closed vertical tear along the back fore-edge fold. Upper right corner of front panel has a7/8" closed vertical tear. Loss from rubs on both front fore-edge corners and lower back fore-edge corner. Both corners of the front inside flap are clipped, but price of $5.00 is intact.
