[iv], 38, 9 (General Information)pp. Tokyo, Tamamura, dated: Meiji 24 [i.e. Tamamura Kosaburo (1856-1923?) was a noted Japanese photographer who first opened a portrait studio in Asakusa, Tokyo in 1874. Nine years later he moved to Yokohama where he mostly sold souvenir collotype albums to tourists. The present publication was not for sale but was given as a present to his customers. It was printed at a time when there were still restrictions on the movement of foreigners in Japan and in general they had to obtain permission to travel outside a radius of 10 ri (ca. 25km) from the Open Ports (Yokohama, Tokyo, Kobe, Osaka, Niigata, Hakodate, and Nagasaki). The restrictions are explained in great detail in the last section ('Rules to be observed by foreigners travelling beyond the treaty limits'), together with helpful hints on dress, luggage, and how to obtain shooting licences.
