An Irish poet, author, and playwright, Synge’s limited number of works due to his short life were nevertheless influential in the Irish literary revival. Visiting the rural Aran Islands over several summers, Synge wrote about their rural living and Catholic beliefs, which was a major theme in many of his pieces. Illustrated by W.B.
